Schedule: 6 weeks - (Monday, 11th- Monday, June 22nd)-- * Off for Memorial Day

Style is a very personal thing— like fingerprints or bite patterns. Anyone who says they can teach you a style is either lying or preparing to turn you into little more than a xerox machine. Being influenced to some degree by another artist is fine — we all learn that way— but copying what already exists isn’t creating a style. It’s lazy and unoriginal and it’s stealing.

In this 6 week class you’ll get 5 assignments, each a prompt which you’ll be encouraged to solve using stylistic choices that are appropriate for the topic. Ideally, in doing this you’ll be thinking about how the look (style) of your artwork changes to best address the tone of the subject matter.
For folks who wish to develop a style they’re already working on, you can take the opportunity with each assignment to deepen, widen and evolve your style as you address the needs of each prompt. Through individual critiques emailed after each assignment is turned in, students will get feedback and advice on the strengths and weaknesses of their style and how to best utilize their potential.

As an asynchronous class, this is perfect for folks who want to work on their own schedule, can't be in a class at a specific day or time, or are in a different time zone. Take it from anywhere you are in the world.

As with all our classes, Style Development will provide a fun, provocative, challenging, supportive environment for students and illustrators to continue to learn and evolve.

Projects will be assigned on Mondays and will be due the following Monday before 10AM, EST.
